NRUNSER

Biography

N R UNSER has been passionate about painting and creative writing which goes all the way back to her adolescence. From a young age she always dreamt and knew that she would become a full-time visual artist.

In 1995 The Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon, Sask, now known as Mendel Art Gallery and Civic Conservatory, had students from each grade submit art submissions and only one student from each grade would be chosen to show their paintings for a curated exhibition. N R UNSER’s work was chosen by the jury committee for the grade twelve category to be displayed for a month.

N R UNSER moved to Vancouver, British Columbia and attended Blanche Macdonald Centre Makeup College in 1997. A year later she went to Capilano University for TV/Film in North Vancouver BC. Followed by a Small Business and Entrepreneurship Certificate Program at Langara College. Her education includes taking Meisner acting classes, continuing studies at Langara College for Mixed Media and Collage. N R UNSER went to Emily Carr University of Art and Design to study The Built Surface Paint and Collage, Painting Fundamentals for the Composition Process and Form Concepts in Contemporary Painting.

N R UNSER worked as a SFX Makeup Artist in The Movie Industry and in a special effects makeup shop for a decade. Which provided her with additional knowledge and creative skills such as doing life casts on actors. She used clay to sculpt and build up a special effects makeup look on the actors 3D bust. When that process was finsihed she moulded and casted the finished sculpture. Which lastly created a mold so that she could mix up liquid foam and bake the 3D prosthetics. N R UNSER then applied the foam latex appliance onto the actor.  She used an airbrush to color the prosthetics while on the actor to create the final desired look. Being she enjoyed working with clay and sculpting, she’ll most likely revisit casting and molding in the future to create bronze sculptures.

In 2001 N R UNSER’s artwork was chosen to be put onto silk street banners which hung along Main street in Vancouver BC. The Vancouver Courier featured her on the front page and wrote an article about her and N R UNSER’s work in their Volume 92, Number 57 publication on July 18th of 2001.

N R UNSER ran a small business downtown Vancouver BC for fifteen years where she hung her paintings. Which slowly evolved into a solo art gallery. Her international clientele often expressed how much they loved a painting to find out she was the creator and the painting was for sale. This is how N R UNSER has sold most of her original paintings to this day. She is now committed to living out her dream and making her work available on a larger scale globally.

N R UNSER is always in her element during the creative process – She enjoys creating different bodies of work being she loves working with many different mediums and has a lot of different creative ideas that she wants to explore and express with her artistic voice. N R UNSER’s work is her legacy to the world therefore she strictly works with archival art gallery grade materials, pigments, mediums, canvases and cradled wood panels; being she wants her work to last for decades to come so the paintings can be passed down to multiple generations. Her paintings are created to enhance your environment wherever that may be. She believes things in life that provide enjoyment such as having an original painting on your wall can make you smile inwards and brighten up your day. N R UNSER’s website currently showcases two recent bodies of work on a smaller scale. One series is a mixture of encaustic, rust, copper patinas, acrylic and found objects that she aged to represent weathered treasures that you may find outside in nature. The second series N R UNSER wanted a challenge so she used an unconventional thin flat metal clay tool to paint with, being this tool provided less control while she built up multiple layers of paint to create texture and depth on the abstract paintings. N R UNSER is currently working on a new abstract series with minimal mark making. This body of work is about releasing stagnant energy and emotions through the movement of energy to create moody gestures and marks. N R UNSER uses a neutral color palette with different shades of blacks, greys, whites, off whites, tans, light browns and a splash of blues and or greens to add a bit of color. Each painting created is unique and invokes its own movement of energy.
